It was been quite a while and it looks like it has slipped through the cracks. Hence the Gold Coast Amateur Radio Society would like to thank all the Amateurs that took on the VI4GAMES call sign during the 2018 period. To assist with the QSO, GCARS sent out over 700 QSL cards. As well those that called into the VI4GAMES call sign when it was active. Once again thanks without your support we would not have reached over 700 QSOs. Gold Coast City Council is sponsoring GCARS as apart of a week long activities for Seniors Week. So if would would like to pop on down to the Club House, have some food off the BBQ, along with some soft drinks and see what Amateur Radio is all about, we would love to see you. Russell Williams, an ACMA Accredited Frequency Assigner will explain the procedure for assigning repeater frequencies, and how to calculate RF interference generated from one or more transmitters. The Society welcomes new members, whether already certificated Radio Amateurs, or those wishing to get into the hobby.
The Society runs classes to prepare would-be amateurs and also holds examinations conducted under the auspices of the Wireless Institute of Australia.
The Society has been responsible in recent years for inducting more people into the hobby than any other organisation in Australia.
